Clascoterone Powder is a white to light yellow solid powder, CAS number 19608-29-8, molecular formula C₂₄H₃₄O₅, molecular weight 402.53 g/mol. The chemical name is Cortexolone 17α-propionate (CB-03-01), which is a new type of androgen receptor (AR) antagonist that is a topical, peripheral selective anti-androgen drug.
It is the world's first androgen receptor inhibitor approved by the FDA for topical treatment of acne (acne vulgaris). The trade name is Winlevi® (1% cream). In August 2020, it was approved for use in patients aged 12 years and above.
It is a 17α-propionate derivative of cortisol (cortexolone) that is chemically modified to confer local antiandrogenic activity while reducing systemic hormonal effects.
