OVERVIEW

Piperacillin, chemical name (2S, 5R, 6R)- 3,3- dimethyl- 6- [(R) -2- (4- ethyl- 2,3- dioxo-1- piperazinyl amino) -2- Phenylacetylamino]- 7- oxo- 4 -thiohetero -1 -azabicyclo [3.2.0] heptane -2 -carbamic acid monohydrate, is a semi synthetic penicillin antibiotic with broad-spectrum antibacterial effect. Piperacillin is a penicillin broad-spectrum antibiotic. It mainly plays a bactericidal role by interfering with the synthesis of bacterial cell wall. It is mainly used for the infection caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa and various gram-negative bacilli, but it is easy to be produced by bacteria β- Lactamase hydrolysis and drug resistance; Sulbactam has no antibacterial activity against other bacteria except Neisseria and Acinetobacter β-Lactam resistant strains produce most important antibiotics β- Lactamase has irreversible inhibition.

Famotidine selectively blocks histamine H2-receptors on gastric parietal cells, suppressing basal and stimulated acid secretion. This action reduces gastric acidity, promoting ulcer healing and preventing acid-related tissue damage.

Bioavailability Enhancement: When formulated into self-nano emulsifying delivery systems (SNEDDS), famotidine powder shows improved absorption and sustained release, addressing its inherently low bioavailability.

Renal Excretion: Primarily excreted unchanged by the kidneys, requiring dosage adjustments in patients with impaired renal function to avoid accumulation.

Piperacillin is an acyl urea, broad-spectrum semi synthetic penicillin. It has strong antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and diphtheria, especially against Streptococcus, but it has poor effect on enzyme producing Staphylococcus aureus; It also has strong antibacterial effect on some common gram-negative bacilli, such as Proteus, dysentery bacilli, some Serratia, Pseudomonas, Citrobacter, Salmonella, etc. The effect on Pseudomonas aeruginosa was second only to Furacillin, but better than carboxybenzylcillin; The effect on pneumoniae was also significantly better than other semi synthetic penicillins. E. coli has poor effect on this product.
